Frequently Asked Questions
-
MCFT combines locally delivered service with the resources, technical expertise and support network of an international maintenance provider.
Our catering and refrigeration engineers are directly employed by MCFT, rather than subcontracted, helping us provide greater consistency, accountability and familiarity across your sites. Wherever possible, customers work with dedicated local technicians who understand their equipment and operating environment.
We also provide dedicated account management, strong technical and customer service support, SFG20-aligned maintenance and access to IRIS, our online customer portal. This gives you clear visibility of your assets, service activity, maintenance history, costs and compliance documentation.
Our focus is not simply repairing equipment when it fails. We help customers reduce downtime, manage costs and extend the working life of their assets.
-
MCFT provides complete lifecycle support for commercial catering and refrigeration equipment.
Our services include:
• Planned Preventative Maintenance
• Reactive repairs and emergency callouts
• Commercial refrigeration maintenance
• Commercial catering equipment maintenance
• Asset condition reviews

• New equipment supply and installation
• Equipment recommendations and CAPEX planning

• Multi-site and national account support
We maintain equipment from all major manufacturers and can support individual locations, regional estates and large international operations.
-
PPM stands for Planned Preventative Maintenance. It involves inspecting, testing, cleaning and servicing equipment at scheduled intervals, rather than waiting for it to break down.
A structured PPM programme can help identify developing problems earlier, reduce unexpected failures, improve equipment performance and extend asset life.
SFG20 is a recognised standard for building and asset maintenance. MCFT uses SFG20-aligned, equipment-specific maintenance schedules to provide a consistent and auditable approach across your estate.
Completed maintenance activity, service history and supporting documentation can be recorded within IRIS, helping your organisation maintain a clear compliance and audit trail.
-
We support organisations operating commercial kitchens, catering facilities and refrigeration equipment across a wide range of industries.
These include:
Contract catering
Business and industry

Education
Hospitality
Venues and events
Equipment manufacturers
Restaurants and quick-service restaurants
Retail and multi-site operators
Care homes and residential care
Public sector and government facilities
Our maintenance programmes can be adapted around the different operational, compliance and service requirements of each industry.
-
Our pricing is tailored to the individual requirements of each customer rather than based on a one-size-fits-all package.
The cost of a maintenance agreement may depend on:
• The number of sites
• The number and type of assets
• Equipment age and condition
• Required PPM frequency
• Operating hours
• Response time requirements
• Geographic coverage
• Reporting and account management requirements
• Any out-of-hours or emergency support required
Following an asset review or site survey, we provide a clear proposal setting out the agreed scope, service levels and costs.
Reactive repairs, replacement parts, new equipment and installation work can be quoted separately where they are not included within the agreed maintenance package.
-
The process starts with an initial conversation about your sites, equipment, current maintenance arrangements and service requirements.
Depending on the size and complexity of your estate, we may recommend a site survey or asset review. This allows us to understand the number, type, age and condition of your assets before developing a suitable maintenance proposal.
Once the service agreement has been confirmed, we will:
1. Set up your sites and assets within our systems.
2. Introduce your account management and support contacts.
3. Allocate appropriate local engineers.
4. Agree your maintenance schedule and service levels.
5. Provide access to the IRIS customer portal.
6. Begin the planned onboarding and maintenance programme.
Our team will support you throughout the transition from your existing provider.
