Supporting The Plough at Fadmoor: More Than an Equipment Donation

When a community comes together to protect something important, the right support can make a real difference.

The Plough at Fadmoor is a much-loved community pub in Yorkshire. As local people worked to bring the pub back to life, MCFT was pleased to support the project alongside Plunkett UK through our Pre-Loved Equipment Programme.

Giving commercial kitchen equipment a second life

Across the industry, good-quality commercial kitchen equipment is often removed from sites despite having plenty of useful life remaining.

Our Pre-Loved Programme recovers suitable equipment and refurbishes it with the help of our apprentice technicians.

This gives our apprentices valuable hands-on experience while reducing waste and supporting community organisations.

For The Plough, our local North team delivered and installed a range of essential kitchen equipment, including:

  • Two commercial fridges
  • A freezer
  • A gas oven
  • A dishwasher

The equipment helped provide the foundations needed to get the pub’s kitchen operational and support its return as an important local meeting place.

Local MCFT technician Danny Carr also spoke to Channel 4 as part of a series with Jon Richardson about the restoration of the pub, about the MCFT team’s involvement, helping to share the story of the project and the work being done to save the pub.

Continuing to support the community

Our involvement did not end with the equipment delivery. The Plough recently held its own Cycle Sportive, bringing cyclists and local residents together for a day of cycling, food and community activity.

David Meacock, MCFT Group Director of Engineering, took part in the event, continuing our connection with the pub and supporting its ongoing role within the local area.

Projects like The Plough demonstrate what can be achieved when local communities, specialist partners and businesses work together. The refurbished equipment has been put back into use, our apprentices have gained practical experience, and a valued community venue has received meaningful support.

Thank you to Plunkett UK, everyone involved with The Plough at Fadmoor and our local MCFT team for helping bring this much-loved pub back to life.
