Stronger Together - grasp that nettle
Last week we held our second “Leadership Academy”, open to all those within the business who expressed an interest to develop and grow.
The 40 self-selected candidates included Alice, who is less than a week into the business, and Stu who already holds a leadership role and has been with MCFT for 15 years.
Apprentices, engineers, service desk and operations managers all mixed together in teams for the day on the theme of ‘Stronger Together’. Each team was facilitated by senior leaders, Chris, Mark, Paul and Lee.
Karen McDonagh explains how the day was put together:
Despite some challenging conversations when it came to problem-solving real life scenarios, there was a real buzz in the room at the end of the day which concluded with a team dinner and prize giving for the ‘Spirit of MCFT’ award. Well done to the Green Team!
The key takeaway for the day was ‘Grasp the nettle’. Business Improvement Manager, Terence summed it up:
“It’s easy to take ownership when things go well. It’s much harder when it’s going wrong. Our approach should be ‘I may need your help to support me but I will take hold of this problem’. “
