Sam runner up in ACR News Awards
Trainee engineer, Sam Ivey was runner up in the Trainee of the Year category at the ACR News Awards which took place last month.
It was in the summer of last year that we entered Sam into the awards run by the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration News (ACR News) magazine as he was showing such promise early on in his training.
We're delighted that he was shortlisted, even if he was just pipped at the post!
Matt Alderton, Technical Lead in charge of the training programme said
“MCFT takes on many trainees, but not many of them get to grips with things as quickly as Sam has. He's fast tracked through the training and has already completed and passed his basic electrical, safe isolation and F-gas. Sam achieved in 6 months what most trainees take a year to do. He's found out ways to simplify administrative tasks and willingly helps others and shares this information with his team mates."
Under the guidance of our technical leads, Sam is now carrying out work by himself such as installs. He recently installed a condensing unit and evaporator with pipework and electrics at Maidenhead United Football Club, just checking in with his manager to say 'this is what I'm doing, all OK?' The feedback from the job came back to Sam via the CEO who personally congratulated him.
