Operations Director Takes on 969 mile cycle in 9 days
Alistairs latests up dates:
Well it’s been 3 months since I signed on the dotted line - and training is in full swing – depressingly I have just passed the 1000 mile practice – when the main event is 969 miles in 9 days! (and 41,000ft of climbing!)
I’ve seen most parts of Oxford, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire (and parts of Gloucestershire) on my different forays ranging from 25 to 85 miles. Hill training is not a problem nestled between the Ridgway and the Wayfarers pathway’s, and I think I have now seen at least 4 of the local white horses.
Stonehenge, Woodhenge, Avebury have all been part of the historic sites passed by with regular trundles into the Cotswolds – another great area for hill training.
I’ve crossed the young, middle and mature Thames backwards and forwards on its meandering course across the central belt north of the M4
So as we stand another 2000 + miles of training in 4 months left to do and I should be about there. One stone lighter already – One more to go.
The sponsorship fund is going well but if you would like to support the excellent prostate project charity the target of £9,690 remains challenging.
Couple of bigger rides below – 82 to Cotswolds water park Lechlade and the Thames and the other to Stonehenge circumnavigating Salisbury plain"
